Mount up, all you sartorialists. The annual fashion event, Singapore Fashion Week (SFW), is back with runway shows and fringe activities aplenty. This is what you can look forward to.
Runway shows
If you don’t have tickets to the opening and closing shows of, respectively, Diane von Furstenberg and Victoria Beckham, well, it’s too late now. Same goes for Thakoon and Dion Lee.
But there’s still hope on the local front. On Thursday, see the cruise collection by Dzojchen and fall line from Elohim by SabrinaGoh. Friday brings Ong Shunmugam’s cruise collection, Collate the Label’s pre-fall collection, and exhibit x ALT, presented by Charles & Keith. When Saturday swings ’round, check out the Woo/Fiziwoo and Zalia collections, presented by Zalora, as well as the collaboration between Indonesian designer Tex Saverio and Love, Bonito. And don’t miss out the Benjamin Barker Singapore Designer Showcase – the first-ever solo men’s show at SFW – also on Saturday.
Panel discussions
If you’re fascinated by the industry, hit up the inaugural Fashion Talks Series, which debuts with a discussion led by designer Diane von Furstenberg and the CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Steven Kolb, on Wednesday. The next day sees former Harper’s Bazaar Russia editor Miroslava Duma and Aussie designer Dion Lee discuss the impact of social media on the international fashion industry. Thakoon Panichgul and Kolb take over the conversation on Friday to chat about the former’s design aesthetic and his approach to digital marketing.
Pop-up stores

For a close-up look at the runway designs, head over to Tangs Orchard (Levels 2 and 3) from now until May 20 and drop dollars at the official SFW pop-up store. Labels such as Elohim by SabrinaGoh, Ong Shunmugam, Collate the Label and Studmuffin NYC are on display, alongside the debut stationery collection by Garance Doré and accessories by brands like Delphine Delafon, Alexia Hollinger, Monica Vinader and Edge of Ember. You can also browse through capsule collections by local names like Aijek, Cruise, In Good Company, Reckless Jersey and Womb.
Official stationery

Not to be forgotten, Swedish stationery brand kikki.K jumps on the SFW wagon with its limited edition ‘Fashion Inspiration Notebooks’ ($16.90, available at the Ion outlet). The set consists of two blank notebooks – an A5 ‘Must List’ and an A6 ‘Lust List’ – so you can easily separate your sartorial buys after flicking through mags and blogs for inspiration.
After-party

And to ensure you cap off Friday on a high, H&M transforms its Orchard Building flagship store into a raving summer party with Godfrey Gao on decks and a 15 percent storewide discount for guests. Score an invite by being the first 500 to spend at least $100 at any outlet.
Singapore Fashion Week is at the Tent@Orchard from May 13-17. Visit www.singaporefashionweek.com.sg for more info.
