Got a mental picture of a bar dedicated The Who? Scratch that. Though named after the rock anthem by the British rock legends, this spankin' new drinking den by A Phat Cat Collective – the brains behind Nineteen80 – is far from a fanboy's cave. Instead, it's bathed in vibrant hues and retro designs à la the 70s, and as it says on the tin – it has pinball machines too.
"Pinballs have become a rare find in Singapore, and we are thrilled to introduce a bar and club that puts a spotlight on it," says Yafith A. Hamid, Operations Director of A Phat Cat Collective.
Located at the iconic Sim Lim Square, Pinball Wizard is a fresh combo of retro games, throwback music and trendy tipples for night owls seeking alternative after-dark hangouts. Choose your poison from its drinks menu which splits into two categories – Signature Cocktails for innovative concoctions and Cocktail Remixes for fun renditions of classic cocktails. It's also among the first bars in the city to offer eco-spirits such as the winter wheat Tried & True vodka from Cognac, the citrus-based Widges London dry gin and the Caribbean award-winning Plantation 3 Stars white rum as house pours.
Further into the night, the venue switches into club mode with a roster of DJs including Weelikeme of Eatmepoptart and Nineteen80 residents Ollie'des, Ya5th and Bobos helming the decks. Show off your best moves on the dancefloor as you groove to a mix of pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, alternative and dance hits from the 90s to now.
And if you're up for a challenge and a dance battle doesn't quite cut it, you can always put your skills to the test on any one of its pinball machines.
