If you thought Club Street wasn’t crowded enough, a slice of New Orleans is primed to jostle with the fleet of bars and restaurants on the buzzy stretch. Bourbon Street is – surprise, surprise – devoted to the American spirit, with over 30 labels of bourbon on its menu. From the standards like Maker’s Mark to small-batch expressions such as Hudson Baby, the range ($14-$34/45ml, $160-$360/bottle) adequately reps the American South. The cocktails ($16-$28), which are also centred around bourbon, aren’t content with playing it safe. The bar’s version of an Old Fashioned ($16) has the peculiar addition of basil, while the Tropical Tantrum ($18) features tiki bitters and pineapple-infused bourbon for that requisite equatorial touch.
