You know exactly what you’re in for when swimming by Beats Bites and Cocktails. This new spot along Bukit Pasoh Road comes outfitted with a DJ station and sonorous sound system, and the open kitchen is equipped with a Bertha oven where almost everything comes cooked with binchotan wood. Sample the Bertha Ash Biscuits ($8), made using leftover ash in place of baking powder; the Nambanzuke ($14) made with fermented eggplant, pork cheek ($12), wagyu beef cubes ($8), and more. Of course, the cocktail selection is extensive, and comes paired with over 120 types of bitters. Highlights include plantation dark rum-based Cane and Caffeine ($22), and a locally inspired Ice Kachang ($22) that comes mixed with Plantation pineapple rum, Ette cranberry tea, and grilled pineapple spice syrup.
