The saying, "Time will tell," comes to life in Robert Yasuda's artworks, a series of wood slabs layered with paint, creating pieces that transform based on the light and temperature they encounter. According to Yasuda, these artworks are not meant to be quickly glanced at; instead, they reveal their true essence gradually, requiring time and contemplation to fully appreciate.
His atmospheric paintings are inspired by his upbringing in Hawaii, and evoke scenes from his native land. They cast a mesmerising glow of coloured light into the surrounding space, exploring the perception of light and space.
Crafting his artworks was no simple task as well. Yasuda crafts thick wooden panels with chisels and grinders, softening their lines and adding layers of pearlescent acrylic paint, creating multi-paneled works with intricate seams, mounted on cradle-like structures.
