It’s only the second week of January, but our local art scene is already revving up with a lineup of several exciting art happenings: think Singapore Art Week, Art Sg and Light to Night Singapore. Now, here’s one for Singapore's literary art scene – Verse, an event featuring a line-up of literature-focused programmes will take place at The Arts House (TAH) at the Old Parliament, as part of Light to Night Singapore from January 17 to February 2, 2025. Highlights include Kray Chen’s A Little Bead of Work, transforming TAH’s lawn into a glowing field of alphabet beads inspired by friendship bracelets and creative wordplay. Meanwhile, TAH’s façade becomes a canvas for TraseOne’s Now You See Us?, a vibrant projection mapping piece that celebrates Singapore’s graffiti culture with dazzling visuals and soundscapes. Beyond installations, Verse brings literature to life with interactive experiences. Try your hand at blackout poetry, craft bracelets with meaning, or explore karaoke poetry, a fun, tech-enabled take on Singaporean Chinese literature. For film buffs, a curated showcase of short films by top local filmmakers dives into themes of identity and aspirations. Horror fans, don’t miss the spine-chilling return of the supernatural film Cherita Hantu, now exploring the unsettling theme of disbelief in the supernatural. The Bridgerton craze is far from over. The Candlelight: Best of Bridgerton on Strings features songs from the hit Netflix show, performed by a live string ensemble amidst the romantic glow of dozens of candles. The setlist includes songs from all three series, such as thank u, next, Give Me Everything, and Cheap Thrills. Each showcase runs for an hour, and seating is assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis in your respective zone.
