If you’re a lover of the written word and literature, then there’s no excuse to miss out on the upcoming annual literature festival, Textures. This year marks its 7th edition celebrating Singaporean literature (SingLit), featuring a bunch of exciting art installations, exhibitions, theatrical productions and even pop-up bookstores.
Catch performances such as Thank You For Holding, a multidisciplinary show written by poet Marc Nair that will deliver its narrative through movement, monologues and live music. The show is also a special one because it is interactive – the audience can participate to direct the show by choosing their desired response to each unfolding chapter.
There’re also art installations by local artists that are not to be missed. This includes Winter Sonata, Summer Mookata by Knuckles and Notch – an animated installation inspired by pop culture, comics, films, anime, sci-fi and philosophy.
On level 1 of The Arts House, pick out a book from a diverse range of titles and genres and enjoy some quiet time at the pop-up bookstore Chio Books located at the Corridor and Foyer, or stock your digital shelves with e-books displayed at Read at Home. Located on the same level, there are also available exhibitions such as Tell Bowie He's Only A Rock Star. I, However, Am A Poet, one where you’ll be able to learn more about the late poet Goh Poh Seng.
