Their faces are shrouded in identical, ambiguous black-and-white tendrils sprouting in wild abandon. It’s with a sense of discomfort that we examine Farizwan Fajari’s – stage name Speak Cryptic – work, where identity is fluid and cultural influences shape individuals in different ways. 'The Tribe' is a performance piece that celebrates this idea: 100 public artists bring newly illustrated characters to life in a series of interactive installations and booths, including an augmented reality treatment of Speak Cryptic’s artworks, as interpreted by Eugene Soh.
