Time Out says

Say hello to Natasha, the name given to Singapore Biennale 2022. This year, the sprawling arts festival kicks off on October 16 with three levels of contemporary art at Singapore Art Museum (Tanjong Pagar Distripark), with more artworks, programmes, and activations radiating outwards across Singapore and beyond our coastline to the Southern Islands.

Join Natasha beyond the four walls of traditional art galleries and into everyday spaces, where you can explore, rest, and see art in a whole new way. One project is AWKNDAFFR's (Wayne Lim and Soh Kay Min) Islandwide Coverage, which incorporates artworks into the tapestry of life at the Singapore Flyer and regional libraries in the heartlands. Newly announced locations include International Plaza, which will feature The Library of Unread Books by Heman Chong and Renée Staal, and 22 Orchard Road, an old shophouse that will be showcasing works and practices that spotlight the artists' local communities from December onwards.

Natasha will also be taking you to the Southern Islands, where you're invited to contemplate our relationship with nature, social practices and myths. Highlights include Fermentation House by Donghwan Kam, which features miniature house sculptures where soya sauce is being fermented. An extension of his previous work Fermentation Garden, where he cultivated kimchi instead, the piece is an exploreation of domestic practices and its relation to time.

At organiser Singapore Art Museum's homeground, Tanjong Pagar Distriparkexperience multimedia installations, immersive experiences, and workshops in a contemporary art showcase spanning three floors. It gathers the works of artists from all over the world, including renowned names such as Haegue Yang, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Cevdet Erek, and Wu Mali. Don't miss out on artworks that are the culminations of the Biennale's artist residencies in partnership with Darat al Funun – The Khalid Shoman Foundation. One example: Singapore artist Ong Kian Peng will be showcasing The Viscous Sea, a multimedia installation he completed in Amman, Jordan.

Singapore Biennale 2022 will be taking place from October 16, 2022 to March 19, 2023. For the full list of exhibitions, programmes, and workshops, visit singaporebiennale.org
