Festival director Kuik Swee Boon opens Contact with this exploration of the philosophical adage, ‘existence precedes essence’. The dance, performed by THE Dance Company as part of a triple bill, examines the individual as a unit of both the family and society: how can one remain ‘true’ to the self while maintaining his or her place within a larger body? Pure is performed alongside Equilibrium by Kim Jae Duk (South Korea) and Attachant by Arthur Bernard Bazin (France).
