In the mood for a weekend of wining and dining with a dose of culture? Let local emerging artist Faris Heizer take you through his first solo exhibition at Sprmrkt at Cluny Court from June 29 to October 11. 'Passengers' showcases his process-driven creations, where he interweaves his sporadic painting process with meta-narratives, bringing forward the flux of interplay between composition and pictorial space. The result is relatable and familiar narratives and situations.
For those unfamiliar with the artist, here's a brief introduction: The NAFA graduate has exhibited at three group exhibitions in 'Raw Forms', 'Diptych' and under the collective The Right Belief in 'Orthodox' at Coda Culture. It goes without saying that this is a name to watch out for.
Sprmrkt invites you to get acquainted with Faris' works at 'Passengers'. Marvel at seven of his masterpieces featuring caricatured figures that draws attention to the artificiality of his painting's narratives, with the figures existing in an abject reality ruled by its own logic and boundaries. Some pieces are also inspired by pop culture pieces, such as fictional novels and old cartoon shows.
Faris' exhibition kickstart Sprmrkt's 'Artists in Their Space' series on social media. By inviting viewers into the artist's creative work environment, the initiative hopes to close the gap between artist and audience. For more info, check out Sprmrkt's Instagram and Facebook.
