Established by an act of parliament in 1968, the NAS has moved beyond its traditional role as national record keeper, responsible for the collection, preservation and management of Singapore's public and private archival records, some of which date back to the early 19th century. It now also holds exhibitions showcasing the nation's history and heritage in its lobby.
