Old meets new when NADA – comprising performance artist Rizman Putra and electronic musician Safuan Johari – deconstruct and reassemble popular Malay songs of the ’60s to stitch together a nostalgic aural tapestry. Listen to sounds culled from New World Park – an amusement park back in the ’60s that attracted crowds with its cabaret girls – and Gay World’s ronggeng, where couples recited poetic verses as part of a Javanese dance. Media artist Brandon Tay brings together the sensory experience with projection-mapped sculptures and stills from old Malay films.
This event is part of The O.P.E.N festival's Club Malam.
