Time Out says

Most would think art and science are two separate entities. But if you would like to have your beliefs challenged, Art Porters Gallery is hosting a brilliant exhibition art enthusiasts and science geeks alike should check out.

Licht, Liebe, Leben is the first solo exhibition by Singapore-based Austrian artist Bettina Schleier. The title itself translates to "Light, Love, Life" and is the signature of German philosopher Johann Gottfried Herder, whose humanistic approach to the natural sciences greatly inspire the artist.

But first, a sneak peek into Bettina's mind. The artist strongly believes that science is not separate from art. Aesthetics can be found in nature in the form of data, known and unknown to us. After all, we are constantly searching for meaning and connections in our lives. Art can therefore act as a language of science that translates data around us. The artist is inspired by her sense of curiosity in conservation science, seeking to channel that spirit and her obsession for research into her own artworks and share her passion to a wider audience. Head down to see for yourself how the two worlds – art and science – collide.

Her works combine electronics and sensors with organic, everyday materials found in South East Asia, inviting us to interact, measure and reveal the natural data around us.

The exhibition is participatory. In one artwork, Die Raupe und der Schmetterling, visitors are encouraged to submit their own poems inspired by Die Raupe und der Schmetterling and be part of the digital poetry slam with music by Singaporean music producer vyndicate.

On June 11, the gallery extends its opening hours for Porters After Dark – which gives art lovers a unique chance to experience the gallery in a different light. However, do only visit in groups of twos and sign up for a slot here
