National Day month is coming up in August, and there's no better time to appreciate Singapore on the big screen. From August 1 to September 8, catch Imaging Paradise, a curated film series by ArtScience Museum, featuring a slew of timeless classics and modern masterpieces by Singaporeans, about Singapore.
Imaging Paradise features a curated collection of films, short stories, and documentaries by the likes of directors Tan Pin Pin, Tan Bee Thiam and Royston Tan. The programme explores the idea of a modern utopia through unique stories of our past, present, and uncertain future. Travel back to our cultural roots alongside Singaporean filmmakers in the short story series 667; revisit fading and forgotten landmarks through the eyes of ordinary citizens in Old Places, Old Romances & Old Friends; or investigate conformity and happiness in Tiong Bahru Social Club, among others.
This is also your chance to experience ArtScience Cinema, the museum's first purpose-built screening room. Enjoy a truly immersive experience in this new cinema space, which boasts plush, spacious seats and high-quality surround-sound wireless headphones. And beyond Imaging Paradise, ArtScience Museum will be screening a curated programme all year round, including feature films, cinematic retrospectives, film festival picks, documentaries and more – so keep your eyes peeled.
Imaging Paradise includes both free and ticketed screenings. It costs $13 for a standard ticket and $11 for concessions; ArtScience Friends get 20 percent off. For the full list of films, visit the official webpage, and to get your tickets, visit this link.
