Art Porters Gallery presents Domestication II, a solo exhibition by Singaporean-born, New York-based artist Su-en Wong. The Exhibition sees its continuation from Domestication, a group exhibition in which the artist was a part of during the Singapore Art Fair in 2014. Inspired by the concept of the self as the other, the artist touches on themes of power and individuality, as well as their respective binaries, by replicating herself as multiples in either an adolescent fashion or as the female nude – provocatively parodying the stereotypes of Asian women. She also addresses the theme of collection through a range of objects in glass display cases, a nod to Damien Hirst’s works.
