Internationally acclaimed multidisciplinary collective Phunk Studio commemorates 25 years at Control Chaos: 25 Years of PHUNK. Founded in 1994 by Alvin Tan, Melvin Chee, Jackson Tan and William Chan, the local design studio has established a visual signature that seamlessly blends and reinterprets their diverse influences into a singular aesthetic that reflects their multi-cultural identity. Think traditional Chinese craft, philosophy and folklore, Hong Kong wuxia pulp fiction, Japanese manga and otaku subculture, and Western popular culture.
You might have probably seen their colourful work at Promenade MRT Station called Dreams In Social Cosmic Odyssey. Control Chaos, held at the National Design Centre as part of the SG Designer Milestone Series, documents their history, influences and philosophies through a mix of print and digital media, featuring both new and archival work.
