Contemporary rituals of sexuality, power and race in Singapore are rarely acknowledged – much less explored – but Andrew Sutherland and Chanel Ariel Chan address it in a 50-minute examination of online hookups, theatre history and more. It’s a contest of dominance and servitude, artifice and cultural appropriation, and grandiose and filth as the performers push the blurred boundaries between the identities of the East and West – all amid a profusion of chrysanthemums.
