Ever heard of birth year wines? At Wine & More located at the entrance of Hannam-dong’s UN Village, you can find the perfect bottle of wine to mark a birth year or anniversary.
What would it feel like to receive one? It could perhaps be compared a total wine fanatic's virgin sip of Romanée-Conti. But, “How is that possible?” you may ask. Anyone can find at least one bottle of nice wine marking their birth year because Wine & More boasts a pretty impressive collection of wines, with some even dating back almost 100 years. The wines made in the 70’s to 80’s cost somewhere between 100,000 won to 200,000 won. The historically renowned Chateau Mouton Rothschild wines, Chateau Margaux’s 1970-80’s vintages and Chateau d'Yquem’s 1919 vintage (soon marking its 100th birthday) can all be found here, as well.
It’s the place where the usually prized 30 year old wines are overshadowed by the rarest of wines. Not only that, they offer ‘Daily Surprise Events’ providing a select brand of wine at an extremely reduced price: E.Guigal, Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge is priced at 60,000 won and Emmanuel Rouget, Passe Tout Grains at 30,000 won.
As for the ‘& More’ part of the name, you can find a wide variety of beer, whisky, spirits, traditional Korean liquors and sake here. From 100 variants of miniature spirits (50ml - 200ml) at 10,000 won for those who like to drink alone to magnum size wines/champagnes perfect for gatherings and parties, the store has over 2600 types available on demand. Upon visiting here, you'll agree that Wine & More well deserves the title liquor heaven.
