This shop was created at the behest of Lim Tae-byung, who is both the owner of Café Behind and an illustrious architect. The place used to be an old two-story home in Donggyo-dong. It has since been remodeled to house eight shops and one studio. There, you can find the following: bookstore Byeol Check, which sells books that have apparently been selected according to the free-willed owner’s eclectic literary preferences, as well as independent publications; the one-person hair salon By Cut; the handmade patent-leather shoe shop Avec; the cake studio Piece Piece; the single-malt whiskey bar Angel’s Share; the café Lounge; the chocolate studio Bittersweet Nine; the silkscreen studio Etoffe; and Ah Studio, where flowers and accessories are made—all these share a single building complex. The exterior of the building wraps around a grass-filled courtyard, so it’s perfect if you’re dying to escape the bustle of the busy streets and envelop yourself in glorious, quiet coziness.
