Baekjae is now entering its 47th year thanks to the many locals and tourists who wouldn’t miss a chance of visiting the renowned establishment. While the samgye-tang itself may not be as impressive as one would imagine with such long lines formed outside the door day and night, it is evidence of the restaurant’s dedication to the simple and traditional recipe. The soup may seem bland at first, with only spring onions as the topping, but you can soon taste the rich chicken stock and distinct flavors of ginseng and jujube. What’s more, the chicken is caught daily from their own poultry farm in Cheonan, then brought to Myeongdong to be cooked that same day.
