Commonly known as “Homo Hill,” Usadan-ro 12-gil in Itaewon is where all the gay bars, transgender clubs are and is quite the fun area to hang out if you’re an LGBT-er or an ally. Recently, there’s been a mysterious door that has appeared to make this alleyway even more special. Inspired by the famous Stanley Kubrick film, A Clockwork Orange, this place recreates the milk bar scene where Alex and his “droogs” (a nickname he calls his group of friends) go. Naked mannequins are stationed around the club, and it evokes the exact same opening scene of the movie. In the film, there’s a bar that serves “milk plus” (milk laced with drugs), and Moloko Plus faithfully sticks to the theme by treating their customers to a milk-like cocktail for free (just to clarify, it’s limited to the first drink only and there are no drugs involved). While the milk plus from A Clockwork Orange may cause you to wretch and commit all kinds of violent acts; at Moloko Plus, the only side-effect you might get here is spontaneously busting a move on the dance floor. It’s been a little over a month since it opened, but it’s already captured the attention of many with its fun costume parties. All kinds of costumes are welcome. Text by Jamie.
