Located in the residential community of Buam-dong, it is best to learn about Mr. Kim Whan-ki before you venture into the Whanki Gallery. A leading artist among the pack of first generation abstract painters in Korea, the gallery displays his oils, watercolors, drawings, and objects from his studio, as well as some precious letters. Although the gallery is mainly dedicated to the great deceased artist, retrospectives and exhibitions are held to highlight his students, as well as young emerging artists in general. Within the gallery's vicinity are designer stores and cute cafés, so there is a plenty to see after a wholesome afternoon of fine art.
