The only campground within the city limits of San Francisco, Rob Hill serves as an urban getaway for locals and visitors alike to experience some the city’s tucked away greenscapes. Plopped atop four acres of above Baker’s Beach, Rob Hill is surrounded with healthy groves of aromatic cypress that are known to look especially prepossessing shrouded in early-morning fog. Sporting a seven-year fresh makeover—which was funded by the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund back in 2010—Rob Hill has finally sloughed off it’s once rustic, poorly maintained look in favor of a more up-to-date layout; each site offers fire pits, free-standing barbecue grills, picnic tables, and flushable toilets to appease the capacity capping 30 individuals at each campsite.
