When it originally opened in the '90s, the Up and Down Club was best known for jazz and acid rock. Now under new ownership and rechristened the Raven, the decor is more noir than nineties, decked with antique mirrors, leather booths, and three(!) bars. Still, the club is a go-to favorite because it relies on its roots: The DJs specialize in tunes from the 1990s to today, with a heavy emphasis on dancey, feel-good nostalgia. Over two levels—and two dance floors—you’ll hear a mash-up of hip-hop, grunge, R&B, and earworm pop. The upstairs space includes live music videos, courtesy of resident video DJ Mark Andrus.
