Anyone who wants to to grab an axe and chop down their own Christmas tree will need to head out of the city and into Petaluma's 97-year-old family farm. Chop down any tree on the farm for $44 and Larsen's friendly staff will shake, net and tie it to the roof of your car.
Castro Valley Christmas Tree Farm
Nestled in the East Bay foothills, Castro Valley Christmas Tree Farm will let you chop down your own tree, courtesy of their guided “choose and chop” sessions, for less than $80. Choose from Douglas fir, Monterey pine or Sierra redwood and get chopping.
Santa’s Tree Farm, right off Highway 92 in Half Moon Bay, is a 487-acre winter wonderland populated with a bounty of both pre-cut and self-cut evergreen trees. Once you've chopped, visit Santa's Village for a fun array of holiday activities as well as complimentary cider, candy canes and visits with Santa.
