San Francisco’s a romantic city, built for love—rainbow love, we see you—and this Valentine’s Day, certain places are pulling out the stops to make sure we have an awesome day celebrating our connections with others.
Here are a few we’ve collected to make sure things are heart-shaped and happy!
1. Play mini golf and drink themed cocktails
At Holey Moley, a fun indoor mini golf location, the deal’s been sweetened by a rollout of specialty Valentine’s Day cocktails. Enjoy (from left, clockwise in the photo at the top of this story) the Chocolate Covered Kisses (vanilla infused Deep Eddy vodka, house chocolate liqueur, amaretto) for $14, Sweet Tarts for Sweethearts (grapefruit vodka, raspberry, lime and prosecco) for $12, I'll Be Your Huckleberry (lemon vodka, huckleberry, lemon, sugar and egg whites) for $12 and Shot Through the Heart (an enormous shooter of vodka, orange liqueur, lime and grenadine) for $8.
2. Watch belly dancing and eat an amazing meal
Marrakech restaurant hosts an evening with a belly dance show and champagne toast in a cozy Moroccan atmosphere. Doors open at 5pm and the event lasts until 11:30pm. Tickets are $82 per person, which includes dinner.
3. Swing dance with Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers
Smith’s been part of the jazz and swing scene since forever, and this entertaining evening includes live music, dinner and cocktails at Biscuits & Blues. There are two shows, at 6:30pm and 9pm, and tickets start at $39 per person. Expect a vintage Valentine’s show with Smith dressed in glittering gowns and the set list featuring soulful ballads and toe-tapping swing tunes.
4. Try a champagne and oysters pairing
Barbarossa Lounge hosts a Valentine’s Special Celebration 8pm to 2am, with a special V-Day menu, champagne and oysters pairing, music by DJ Mikey Tan, cocktails and dancing. The event is free; tickets to reserve your spot here. The lounge will be decorated to enhance that romantic evening you have planned.
5. Commiserate with others on this complicated holiday
So maybe there’s no one to share starry-eyed gazes with. Head to “So This Sucks: The Annual Anti Valentine's Day Storytelling Show SF” to listen to horrifying and hilarious break-up tales on stage at the BATS Improv Theatre. Tickets start at $23 and give you a place to go to cry and laugh with savage delight. February 14, 7–9:30pm; 21+.
