Head’s up, movie lovers: The Alamo Drafthouse is planning to open two more cinemas in the Bay Area, as reported by Variety. There’s already one in San Francisco’s Mission district (which celebrates 10 years in 2025), and now there will be Mountain View and Santa Clara locations.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Drafthouse, the cinema chain shows both classic movies and new releases with cocktails and snacks delivered straight to your seat, plus—sorry budding “Defying Gravity” soloists—a strict no talking, no texting policy so that not a single line of dialogue is lost. The new locations should be operational by summer 2025.

The Alamo Drafthouse Mountain View will showcase 10 intimate auditoriums with 1,100 plush recliners in the Village at San Antonio Center. The Alamo Drafthouse Westfield Valley Fair will also have 10 auditoriums with about 1,500 luxury recliners at the Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara. Both cinemas will feature state-of-the-art 4K digital projection and immersive Dolby Atmos sound systems.

In celebration, Alamo Drafthouse is giving away five free, year-long, two-person subscriptions to Alamo Season Pass. This is a monthly subscription service which lets movie lovers attend one free movie per day. Entries close July 31, 2025, so there’s plenty of time to sign up for the free Alamo Victory account which lets you enter the sweepstakes here. Outside of these new locations, the company operates 44 cinemas across the U.S. and is beloved for its in-seat dining, no talking policy and movie-themed events like its current Wicked menu (and who doesn’t want a Nosferatu pint glass?).

As for San Francisco’s location in the New Mission theater with the huge red tower reading MISSION down its façade, online reviewers love the truffle parmesan popcorn and the preshow clips of vintage ads that relate to the main feature.
