Ms. Direction: Smithereens

Exploring female filmmakers, the Ms. Direction series launches with Smithereens, a 1982 release in the vein of Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains. Directed by Susan Seidelman, who went on to helm cult-flicks She-Devil and Desperately Seeking Susan, the film follows runaway Wren as she tries to make her way through NYC’s dying punk scene. The director will Skype in to introduce the film, which will be followed by a Q&A and music from Nu Normol.
