Leonard Cohen: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970

Mourn another casualty of this oddly woeful year: singer-songwriter-poet Leonard Cohen. This documentary captures Cohen’s masterful performance at the otherwise dreadful 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. Recorded by award-winning documentarian Murray Lerner, the artist’s hazy 2 a.m. set is presented with sporadic commentary from contemporaries including Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson and Judy Collins. It may prove as calming and transfixing today as the live set did all those years ago.
