Tomorrow is National Cat Day, and Uber is celebrating by carting kittens around in cities all over the country, hoping users will meet them, fall in love and adopt on the spot. They're essentially running a kitten delivery service, and we are 100% on board. Here's how it works:
1. Open your Uber app between 11am and 3pm on October 29.
2. Request KITTENS. Note: the shelters Uber will be working with prefer deliveries to offices as opposed to private residences, so be sure to get your boss on board.
3. You'll get 15 minutes with the furballs, and Uber suggests having an enclosed space ready. Losing track of an Uber kitten (any kitten, really) is a big no-no.
4. The kittens you meet are all eligible for adoption, which can happen on the spot—just talk to the local shelter representative helping with the delivery.
This quality kitten time will run you $30, a portion of which will go to East Bay SPCA, Tony La Russa's Animal Resuce Foundation, Marin Humane Society and the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA Adoption Center. Know in advance that demand is high (duh) so not everyone who requests kittens will actually get a delivery.
