Fans of the small, indie music festival will be disappointed to know that Treasure Island will not return to the Bay Area this fall. The 10-year-old event will take a year off and return in 2018 with a brand-new location.
"A lot of factors went into our decision to take a year off," festival co-founder Jordan Kurland told Billboard. "The main one being that finding a venue was taking a little longer than we wanted. But there was never a question of whether or not we would do another one.”
After spending much of the past year exploring venues in Alameda, Oakland, and San Francisco, including Golden Gate Park, Kurland has narrowed it down to two (undisclosed) locations. The fest will also maintain its strict policy of no overlapping sets and plans to bring back its signature 60-foot Century Ferris Wheel.
See you next year, party people.
