If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, then cider must be the cure for all ailments—right? On April 23, do your body a favor and head to the Civil War Parade Ground in the Presidio for Cider Summit SF, one of the largest cider festivals in the country. Now in its third year, the summit is a celebration of all things cider, offering attendees the chance to taste over 150 different variations. There's even a Fruit Cider Challenge, which invites festival-goers to sample pilot batches from a few cideries—yup, you could be deciding what ciders end up on shelves next. Cidermakers will guide both newbies and dedicated fans through the tastings, so bring all your burning cider questions.
To balance out your drinking, Slow Hand BBQ, Whole Foods Market Truck and a few other food vendors will be on site. And in case you're more of a cocktail drinker, the festival is offering cider cocktails for the first time—pinkies up, friends.
Early bird tickets just went on sale for $35 (get them here!), and will jump to $45 starting on April 1; both options include a souvenir glass and eight tasting tickets. Feeling like a baller? Splurge on VIP tickets for $50, which will grant you exclusive entry between noon and 1pm, a souvenir glass and 10 tasting tickets. Additional tastings are $2.
