To say we’re fans of supremely chic SF resident Jeanne Chan would be the understatement of the century. Her blog, Shop Sweet Things, goes far beyond the usual shopping and style tips. Asked to describe her work, Chan tells us, “I focus a lot on simple luxury in style, decor, beauty, recipes, womanhood and family life.” No matter the topic, her impeccable taste shines through. (Don’t believe us? Just scroll through the Instagram highlights below.)
Originally from Hong Kong, Chan has lived in San Francisco for 27 years. Her husband and two daughters feature prominently in her posts, which manage to make her life as a working mother and wife look both flawless and accessible. How she does it all with such sophistication remains a mystery, though Chan was willing to reveal a few of her local secrets to Time Out.
For example, ever been to Dandy? The little home goods boutique in the Inner Sunset is Chan’s pick for the best San Francisco store no one knows about. “The store only opens Friday through Sunday,” she explains. “But if you really want something off the shelves, you can ask the owner at Hollow [the cafe next door] to open the shop for you.”
Another favorite is her cousin’s local business, Honey & Bloom. Chan admits to a bias but insists the company makes some of the best prints and design goods in the city. When she’s looking for an extra shot of inspiration, the Twin Peaks resident heads to Good News, a tiny newspaper store in Noe Valley that carries some of the most up-to-date international magazines.
