Blast those post-holiday blues with this colorful 4-minute video of three freeboarders taking on the oddly-pristine streets of San Francisco, from Russian Hill to Ingleside Terraces. No, these fellas aren't riding skateboards. This video features freeboards tricked out with colorful smoke cannons creating the rainbow clouds that San Francisco has always craved. A freeboard has six wheels instead of four and is inspired by the freedom of snowboarding. This awesome video is essentially a commercial for Freeboard—and a very cool one at that.
Utah-based drone pilot Colton Sandoval gave us the inside track on how this video got made. "The first day of shooting we had a cop car show up and they only had interest in what we were doing. They didn't tell us to stop or warn us it was bad. We saw several patrol cars throughout the shoot and they all had the same reaction," Sandoval explained. "Aside from the police, all of the pedestrians were equally as interested and wanted to know when the video would be released."
As for the smoke, you might be surprised to know its origins. "The smoke is a product of (the company) Enola Gaye and is traditionally used for paint balling," Sandoval told us. "It was not considered a firework and as far as the environment is concerned, there are 30,000,000 cars in California who pollute far worse than these simple powder grenades."
Behold the questionably legally-shot video and the gorgeous shots of our gorgeous city within it. Have you even seen Lombard Street so empty in the daylight? Looks like Sandoval was on the receiving end of a San Francisco miracle:
