Make sure to have some fun before it’s Monday morning (again).

An Intimate Night with Danny Glover
The San Francisco Black Film Festival opens with Danny Glover’s latest film and you can watch it with the man himself. The Nigerian drama-slash-thriller 93 Days captures the complexity of the ebola outbreak that dominated headlines in 2014. After the movie, take a breather, and settle in for a relaxed Q&A with the star of such classics as Lethal Weapon and The Color Purple.
Builders and Brewers Fundraiser
Thursday, June 15 at SOMArts Cutural Center
Hoist a tall one in honor of the amazing collective of local builders who contribute to Rebuilding Together, a non-profit that provides free home repair and restoration services to folks who need it most. Raise funds while sampling craft beers courtesy of the SF Brewers Guild, and have fun with games, a raffle, silent auction and of course, the requisite photo booth.
Speechless
Thursday, June 15 at Public Works
Speechless puts a business school twist on improvisational storytelling. Comedians, entrepreneurs and top tech talent grab the PowerPoint remote and laser point their way through a complete presentation deck, sight unseen. Once assigned a random topic, the audience selects a name for the title slide, and the competition begins. Who will dominate—the comedy nerds or the tech nerds? Only you nerds can decide.
SF Juneteenth
Saturday, June 17 at Fillmore Street
The traditional African-American street festival kicks of its 67th year with a wonderful parade featuring classic car clubs, black cowboys and more. It lands at Fillmore between Turk and Geary where you’ll find live music and comedy onstage, and other attractions worth checking out: a fashion show, the Uhuru African Village Experience and an exhibit honoring black astronauts and inventors.
Phono del Sol Music & Food Festival
Saturday, June 17 at Potrero del Sol Park
For the seventh year, the Phono del Sol Music and Food Festival is returning to San Francisco's Potrero del Sol Park. The venue at 25th and Utah is ideal for food, families and a lot of SPF-50. But the big draw, of course, are intimate al fresco performances from some fave Bay Area artists, including Thee Oh Sees, The Coathangers and Jay Som.
NorCal Corgi Con
Saturday, June 17 at Ocean Beach
The breed beloved by HRM Elizabeth II and celebrated by many more for their squat legs, active minds and bow-tie butts is getting a convention of their own at NorCal Corgi Con. Watch the fetching beasts compete in a costume contest, races and even a Ninja Warrior-style throw down. Whether you share your home with a corgi or just have to stop and pet every one you see on the street, it’s worth the jaunt out to Ocean Beach (look between Stairwell 21 and Fulton Street).
Kehlani
Saturday, June 17 at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
Raised by an aunt in the Bay Area, Kehlani survived a tough childhood that eventually landed her on America’s Got Talent. The voice of hit songs “Gangsta” and “The Way” built a grassroots following before signing to Atlantic Records, giving her both realness and reach to spread her earnest R&B across the world. Catch her homecoming of sorts as she performs at massive Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
Queen + Bowie Tribute: Killer Queens + Rebel Rebel
The women of Killer Queens elevate the cover game as the world’s only all-female Queen tribute act. All talented musicians in their own right, these women bring an extra dash of showmanship to the stage, capturing all the glitter and sweat of a classic Queen performance while covering the complete classic discography. David Bowie worshippers Rebel Rebel will kick things off in style.
North Beach Festival
Saturday, June 17-Sunday, June 18, Washington Square Park
Furry, feathered or finned, animal friends of all types are welcome at this festival to be blessed by a priest in the shrine of St. Francis of Assisi (the namesake of San Francisco and patron saint of animals, natch). Over 63 years, this Little Italy-inspired fete has adopted many more traditions: think festive beer and wine gardens, artisans creating Italian-style street art from chalk and pastel and piles of cannoli.
