In the decade since brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani purchased this 250-acre ranch near Arrowhead Mountain, they’ve turned it into a wine country destination for the young and fashionable. The pair began producing terroir-driven, small-batch wines in 2007, including experiments like sparkling chardonnay, St. Laurent, rose of pinot noir, and sylvaner. (Scribe’s golden skin-fermented chardonnay has gained particular notoriety.) The tasting area is low-key and open-air, centered around rustic hilltop picnic tables. More recently, the Mariani brothers completed their passion project: a restoration of the property’s 1870s Mission-style home. Meticulously renovated by Aidlin Darlin Design and a slew of local collaborators, the historic home is now open for wine and food pairings and occasional events.
