Launched in the late 1980s, Luggage Store Gallery (a.k.a. 509 Cultural Center) added some dimension to the fabric of the Tenderloin well before tech dollars started rolling into the Mid-Market area. As a non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts organization, each exhibition offers something fresh with opening events, discussions and more to compliment most programs. It maintains the reputation and values of a traditional gallery, while being anything but stuffy.
