There are two rules at the Rei dos Galos de Amarante: start your meal with the fish soup, and end it with Seia whey cheese and pumpkin jam. In between, choose whatever you want, the result will be the same: a belly full of good Portuguese and Porto food. They have salted white sea bream and sea bass, game rabbit, roast kid goat and even cuttlefish or octopus bean stew. Take your pick. As for “tripas” tripe stew, it is only served on weekends and must be ordered in advance. But it is worth it.
