Subliminal
Halt Gallery is pleased to present Subliminal, an exhibit of the abstracted works by Lena Klett. The exhibition runs from March 20 - April 5, 2015. Meet the artist at the opening reception Friday, March 20th, 6 - 10pm.
The remarkable works of Lena Klett emerge as she examines how memories just below the threshold of consciousness inform experience. The results subtly hint at the lost details of a previous moment - the suggestive slope of the landscape or the distinctive texture of a garment, that inevitably linger in the subconscious mind. Klett’s distinct vision explores a broad range of media, including paint, charcoal, and embroidery among the paper pieces of Subliminal.
Lena Klett received a BFA in Fiber and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2014. She has shown collaborative work at Art Intersection in Scottsdale, Arizona, and solo work in exhibitions at KCAI from 2010 to 2014. Klett received the Susan Lordi Marker Award in Fiber in both 2013 and 2014 and was awarded a Durwood Internship at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in 2014. Her work is driven by ideas of human presence and landscape, and is heavily influenced by the geography of the Southwestern United States where she grew up.
