Spectators by the thousands have trekked to the University of Pennsylvania for 124 years to see some of the world’s top track athletes compete in a variety of amateur track-and-field competitions, such as mile runs, sprints, the javelin throw, pole vaulting and the hotly contentious “USA vs. the World” series of elite races. Keep your eyes peeled for greatness: Many athletes who participate in the Penn Relays have gone on to Olympic careers.
