Move over, New York. For the second year running, USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards has declared Philadelphia as the most walkable city to visit in the United States. This is especially great for travelers who want to avoid the costs of renting a car or splurging on Ubers. Many of Philly’s top attractions are easy to explore on foot, from public art installations to city parks and historic landmarks.

The top 20 cities were determined by a panel of experts and editors from USA Today, which were then narrowed down to the top 10 by a public vote. “This title underscores our city of neighborhoods, offering a pedestrian-friendly environment where visitors can effortlessly experience the charm, culture, and convenience that define Philadelphia,” stated Gregg Caren, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau.

For reference, the center of downtown Philadelphia is comprised of 26 blocks (or roughly two and a half miles), allowing visitors to traverse from one end to the other in less than an hour. This idyllic design allows travelers to easily walk from their hotels to restaurants to the city’s top attractions, getting the most out of their visit.

As Caren succinctly stated, “Philadelphia [is] a standout destination for visitors seeking an engaging and accessible travel experience.”
