Long considered one of the best arboretums and gardens in Greater Philadelphia, Longwood Gardens continues to garner awards around the world. This week, U.K. travel site Titan Travel named Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square the “world's prettiest flower garden,” scoring 6.86 out of 10.

According to Titan Travel, Longwood Gardens has a five-star review rating on the site, described as “beautiful” by 19 percent of reviewers. The winning gardens also had among the highest volumes of social media posts (307,185 Instagram posts and 6,096 TikTok tag mentions) and a 22.2 percent increase in searches over the last two years.

Visitors travel from around the world to marvel at this former Quaker farm turned 1,000-acre horticultural year-round destination, making it one of the most visited attractions in Pennsylvania. Pierre du Pont designed the European-style grounds to include grand architectural features both inside and outside. There are nearly 10,000 species of plants and species, a five-acre jet fountain garden set on an Italian-villa backdrop illuminated by lights and fireworks at night, a four-acre conservatory, historic Peirce-du Pont House, Webb Farmhouse and Galleries, plus special seasonal exhibits and installations. Some of the most popular attractions include the Green Wall, Orchid House and Hillside Garden, Orchid Extravaganza, Chrysanthemum Festival and A Longwood Christmas.

Plan ahead: Visiting these manicured gardens requires an all-day visit. Be sure to also catch their summer performance series before the season ends.
