Thousands of women and men from the region met on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Saturday for the second annual Women’s March on Philadelphia. The weather couldn’t have been better for the event, which saw fired-up folks raising their voices in support of gender equality and the possibility of more ladies taking over when the midterm elections hit later this year. The day was anchored by a march along the Parkway and a rally at Eakins Oval. There speakers focused their orations on the myriad issues facing not only women but other oppressed minority groups like the LGBTQ and immigrant communities. If one message rang clear throughout the day, it was this: “We will not be silenced.”
