The Navy Yard

A glorious example of smart urban development, South Philadelphia's 1,200-acre Navy Yard is many things. First and foremost, it’s where about 13,000 Philadelphia's go to work every day. The complex is home to 150 companies, including Urban Outfitters, pharmaceutical giant GSK and Tasty Baking Company—the creator of Tastykakes. But it also serves as a major event space. The massive green area in the center of the campus, the Marine Parade Grounds, has played home to large events, which in the past have included the Broad Street Run, Dîner en Blanc and a handful of music and yoga festivals.
