Here in Philadelphia, we take great pride in our very own Mary Cassatt, who rose through the ranks of notable Parisian Impressionist painters. As a woman (and an American) this was rare, but she was not alone. This solo exhibition devoted to Berthe Morisot tells the story of another female artist who defied convention to take part in the late nineteenth century avant-garde movement.
