Move over McDonald's and KFC – this is fast food 2.0

Fast food may be speedy, but it doesn’t have to be mass produced or unhealthy. These local favourites have plenty of character and flavour, quality ingredients, and you don’t have to worry about being charged a fee or paying a minimum on your credit card. Yep, that’s what we call convenience.

Ribs and Burgers
Ribs and Burgers

Head over to William Street for fast food with a fancy edge. Ribs and Burgers is nestled in the chic 140 Perth precinct, serving up premium burgers and eight-hour slow-cooked ribs. The hearty American-style burgers come in beef, chicken or veggie varieties, with most of the standards coming with a dash of ‘Aunty Joan’s pink sauce’. Grilled pork, beef and lamb ribs are basted in signature Ribs and Burgers flavours, and paired with chips or apple cabbage salad. The handy 140 Perth location places the eatery in the perfect position for a bite to eat before or after a jaunt over to Northbridge.

Run Amuk
Run Amuk

Run Amuk is serving up hot dogs with a difference. The family-run snack space came about when owners Emily and Jodey made fancy hot dogs with ingredients from their esky while camping, inspiring them to set up shop in South Fremantle. The menu spans classic ’dogs – bratwurst, caramelised onions, tomato sauce and American mustard – to ‘unleashed’ varieties. The ‘Ninja’, for instance, combines premium bratwurst, freshly made guacamole, steamed rice, teriyaki sauce, pineapple relish, pickled ginger, Japanese mayo and furikake seasoning. Any of the hot dogs can also be easily modified into veggie ’dogs, with the handmade, gluten-free and vegan Run Amuk veggie sausage.
