Gone are the walls that enclosed the old dining room; instead there’s neon, banquette booths and raised marble bars, styled around a casual osteria vibe. Chef Giles Bailey puts out two menus, one at the bar and one in the main restaurant space. Think fresh crudo, grilled cuttlefish, pizza bianca and beef from the Josper grill. A concept that competes ably with the ever-reliable Apple Daily on the first floor, Gazette seems like more of a fit for the Print Hall development and a welcome addition to the Brookfield Place dining precinct. With the renewed Italian focus comes a revamped drinks offering, an aperitivo perhaps, or dip into the Italy-inspired cocktail list.
