Midlands One-Stop Shopping Center

This used to be one of the more classier malls in Penang, but its status in the Penang market has dwindled since the financial crisis in late 1997. The initial anchor tenant was Looking Good Departmental Store and Supermarket, and after its closure, the mall was unable to substitute it with a tenant of similar caliber. With the emergence of their immediate competition Gurney Plaza, Midlands One Stop now caters mainly to the lower end of the market, retailing lower priced goods at par with the lowered rental rates. Nonetheless, you will find mall staples such as Popular bookstore, Watson’s, KFC, McDonald’s and Kenny Roger’s.
