Cecil Street Market

Only a 15-minute walk from KOMTAR via Jalan Gurdwara and a left-turn onto Lebuh Nanking, this late afternoon market sells dry and wet goods, as well as clothes and household items. There’s also a great hawker centre here that serves up some of Penang’s best dishes like duck meat koay teow th’ng (flat rice noodles in soup), chee cheong fun (rolled sheets of rice noodles with garnishing and sauce), assam laksa (noodles in a sour broth), and nyonya kuih (colourful little traditional cakes).
